Like his cousin Zane, Justin Maloney is a third-generation racer. The son of Mark, he started karting in 2004 in the Junior Shifter class, but shifted sports for some time as he followed his dream of becoming a football player. In common with many island drivers of his age in recent years, he has rarely raced for a full season at home while pursuing studies abroad, but has often been at the sharp end. He started back in the summer of 2016 with a podium finish at his first race meet at the redeveloped Bushy Park, since when he has raced spasmodically, in karts and cars. His one Radical outing came on the shorter National Circuit in July 2018, while he has also raced his Uncle Sean’s Hayabusa-engined Mini and an ex-Suzuki Challenge Series Swift Sport, in which he placed second in BPMSI Group 1/Class 2 in 2019, and become a rally co-driver alongside Uncle Stuart.
